When to start keeping a timeline?

Hi! We're preparing to start first grade and I love the idea of keeping a timeline (I like this one, and will likely get the DIY CD : http://www.homeschoolinthewoods.com/HTTA/RecordofTime.htm

When would this be appropriate? First grade, or do I wait a bit?

Thanks!

Amanda

I started a time line when mine were that age but it seemed like there were so many other things that needed done that I wasn't faithful in keeping it up. We are going to start Am. Hist this coming year and I plan on helping them do a time line book each.

We were doing MFW when in first grade and they kept it pretty simple for time line. Just the bare basics of what ever you are studying.

We'll be starting our first time line this fall. My son is starting 5th grade. I guess, we could have done one earlier but it just seemed like a lot of work for me and not that much payoff for the boys. Now that they are a bit older, I think, will be a perfect time to start a timeline as we start the Ancients again.

In short, I would propably wait.

Oh, good! It really felt like 'just another thing to keep up with' and I was hesitant to start something that we wouldn't get done. I think we'll probably wait until fifth grade.

Thanks!
