abbeyej
I don't know what she has. Found pictures, but I still don't know what they(!) are. ;) I just got a new dishwasher too -- for my decidedly smaller and less hospitable home. ;) But I love, love, love my dishwasher. It's a dual-drawer system, and the coolest thing ever. The drawers run independently, so instead of having one standard dishwasher that holds 10 place-settings, I have two energy-efficient drawers that wash 6 place-settings each, whenever I want. So while one dishwasher is running, I can load the other. I don't worry about trying to fit "one last dish" in the dishwasher, only to discover that by waiting, I now have half a meal's worth of dishes sitting on the counter unable to fit. I love my dual-drawer dishwasher. It's wonderful. (There are several brands for dual-drawers now. Fisher-Paykel is the original, I believe. Maytag makes one now, so does KitchenAid. Mine happens to be DCS-by-Fisher-Paykel...)

I had no idea such a thing existed! I may be getting a new dishwasher next week. After an entire year of no dishwasher, I'll be thrilled with any old thing - but the dual-drawer system sounds heavenly. :D
newbie
We have the Kitchen Aid dual drawer, other than having to use powdered detergent , its wonderful.
Ria
We had a Fisher-Paykel dual drawer dishwasher. It was fantastic for about 2 years, and then it started to go. One part after another started to break....and forget about finding service people. They are few and far between. When one of the drawers became totally unusable we hauled the entire thing out to the curb and all but cheered when the trash men hauled it away. Never again. abbeyej
Oh, that's a shame, Ria! My friend (whose FP dish drawer I coveted for several years before I had the opportunity to get my own) is quite a bit older than that and no problems at all... But I can see how it would be tough to find a repair person for them. I'll just hope mine lasts *forever*. :)

As someone who has a nearly full dishwasher (waiting for just two more plates and a glass) an hour before dinner, I think that sounds like the best invention EVER. Oakblossoms
If you have a Best Buy, buy there and get their warranty. They have a lemon law, rule thingie in the warranty. It's awesome.

Amy loves Bud
check here: Garden Web Appliance Forum These forums were extremely helpful to me when we did our kitchen remodel in the fall. You'll get more info on dishwashers from actual than you could ever imagine. You don't even need to ask a question, just seach the forum. BTW, we have a Kitchenaid and it is a dream. Bill Are you familiar with truism: No woman ever shot her husband while he was doing the dishes. Or the even older (and my mother nearly shouted Ain't That The Truth): Love begins with a woman sinking in a man's arms, and ends with a woman with her arms in a man's sink. Sugarfoot
Honestly, I liked my KitchenAid better than my dish drawers. We have the Fisher Paykel, and while I love having two for all of the reasons Abbey mentioned, everything is still wet at the end of the cycle, and many times things don't get completely clean. Loading is a little bit different, but not a big deal. I don't know. I like to unload perfectly clean, perfectly dry dishes when my dishwasher stops. When I have to dry everything by hand, or worse, re-wash by hand, I'm pretty bummed. And Spy Car, I have a really fancy washer and dryer, too, and I will NEVER have anything else but my Miele's! I think they're part of the reason that I'm disappointed with my dish drawers. I need Miele to make a dishwasher.:) Edited April 25, 2009 by Sugarfoot spelling error

abbeyej
How strange. Mine is technically a DCS, so maybe a little different than your FP, but unless I have it set on Eco, it dries perfectly. And it certainly cleans far better than any other dishwasher I've ever had...
Sugarfoot
Well, I've had a feeling mine aren't working as well as they're supposed to. I hardly ever use the Eco cycle because it doesn't clean well enough, but even on the other cycles, things are very wet. And now, thanks to SpyCar, I may have to "finish them off" so I can put in a Miele. I had no idea that they make a dishwasher. I bet it's fabulous.;) We have a central vac system, so I'd have a hard time justifying the vacuum. Everytime I see one in a store, though, I stop to admire it.:D
kalanamak
Honestly, I liked my KitchenAid better than my dish drawers. We have the Fisher Paykel, I have heard many complaints about the F-P. Am all ears to hear if the KA drawers are better. I have a used KA drier that has outlived two washers. And it was not new when I got it.
