LillianinAL
My dc have done LC 1 and almost finished 2. We want to continue on next year with Latin. We would like to continue Ecclesiastical pronunciation. I need for them to do it almost independently while making progress in Latin. What would you recommend to us? Thanks! abbeyej
If you're liking LC, then the next logical step would be First Form Latin, also from Memoria Press...
LatinTea
If your children are really solid with Latin, then they could just proceed to Henle, going slowly through the first couple of units. That way, when it gets harder in the latter part of the book, they will have more time to dig into those units better. They could even see Henle's 4th book someday! Another thought is that you can use any program, just subbing the classical pronunciation out with the other. The dead Romans won't tell. ;) Margo
Kristen in NC
I was just looking at First Form Latin and it looks to me like if you're almost finished with LCII you should move directly to Second Form. (Unfortunately, that's not available until 2010 so that doesn't help you.)
LillianinAL
then which program would you recommend? I think they are pretty solid, but not completely. I just don't have the time to really learn it myself. Thanks for all your thoughts so far! Lillian
Kristen in NC
My front runner is Latin Alive by Classical Academic Press. But I haven't used it yet so I can't comment on it. The reviews are somewhat mixed. Some people have mentioned errors being an issue. I wasn't trying to add to your confusion. I actually went to look at First Forms to see if they had samples because I thought my son might like it better. Then I noticed the statement on the page about LCII and thought I should mention it :001_smile:
Laura Corin
You could just ignore the classical pronunciation. Best wishes Laura
mazakaal
Another fan of Latin Prep. I'm not sure if you might be able to go straight into Latin Prep 2 if you've finished LC2. Having finished you'd be ahead in declensions so some of that would be review. The only thing that you would have missed would have been the mixed conjugation from what I can tell.
