julesmama3
We did year 1 TOG this year but I am checking out my choices for next year. One thing I loved about TOG were the literature selections with the comprehension worksheets. I was using this as my 'reading'. Is there anything else out there that compares? Do you just have your kids read from book baskets without worksheets? Do you buy a reading curriculum? Thanks!
Wendy in ME
We will be using MFW Ex-1850 next year. My 5th grader will just read from book basket with oral narration but we will be completing 2 Progeny Press units with my 7th grader. razorbackmama
For my youngers, I'm going to assign books to read and have them narrate to me. If I needed a worksheet approach, I would use DITHOR or Progeny Press. For my 7th/8th graders I'll use Progeny Press. For my high schoolers I'll use MFW (that's what we are using for history as well).
ChicoryChick
Up until now, I have not used a formal reading program. Starting next year we will be using DITHOR (Drawn into the Heart of Reading) which has the worksheets but allows you to choose your own books. I use the lit. lists in WTM, and use WWE-style narration for comprehension (and writing skills). It's simple, fun, thorough, and cheap (using library).
