new2homeschoolmom
I have been debating on starting my dd(10) in the R&S 4 English, we are finishing Easy Grammer 4. She has done well in EG but I think she needs to be pushed a little more, maybe. EG has been great for her using the prepostional approach. I have not used the old EG books but I was think if I went this direction I would use EG 5/6, since they are selling the overstock of TM's. Any one have a thought? Thank you Kristi

Thank you Kristi Remember that R&S's English texts are far more comprehensive than EG. EG, which I love, only does grammar, while Building Christian English does grammar, composition, using reference materials, public speaking, and more. If you decide to do the next level of EG, 5/6 would be fine, I'm sure. If you decide you'd like to give R&S a try, your dd could probably do the 4th grade text. T Baer
I use the R&S for my primary text and supplement with EG when DS needs a bit more practice than the worksheets. sue
My daughter did Easy Grammar from 5th through 7th grades, which took us through Easy Grammar Plus. I read in Cathy Duffy's 100 Top Picks that EG was good but not as strong a program as some. When we finished EG Plus, I didn't know what grammar program to choose next. Cathy Duffy's Top 100 suggested going to Abeka High School Grammar, so that's what we did. Abeka 9 was far more advanced than EG. We went from Abeka 9 to Potter's School Online English 3, and we are SO GLAD we had completed Abeka 9th, or Potter's School would have been much more difficult! She is doing great because of the year in Abeka 9th. My 4th grader is doing Rod and Staff with Daily Grams (EG Publisher). I wish I'd started my now 9th grader with Rod and Staff Grammar instead of Easy Grammar.
*Kate*
Even though I am not familiar with Easy Grammar, I just wanted to share that I LOVE R&S English. I started with it this year and feel completely happy with my choice.
noah&emmasmommy
I am currently using EG grade 5, and will be moving to R&S next year as well. I am pretty sure I'll be starting in the 5th grade book, since I've been told it's foundational in nature, and since EG is not as advanced, it would be a good idea to start a year behind. I like EG okay, but my son was not working well with it, so after doing more than half the book, I decided to finish out the year with a BJU english book i already had. What a difference. Something about Easy Grammar isn't always so easy!
Brindee
I have never used Easy Grammar, but we love R&S English as well!
