Guest Mimama
HI My ds will be dual enrolling in the fall with an Anatomy & Physiology course at the college. It is 4 credit hours per semester. How do I count that as high school credit? Is it 1 credit per semester or 4? Thank you!
Brilliant
We were in a charter school for a while that would have counted this as 12 credits. (4 college credits x3). This is in California where a typical year-long high school course is considered 10 "credits". Since a typical 1-semester college class is equivalent to a year of hs credit, they were basically calling any 3 to 4 unit class, 1 year of high school work. Pamela H in Texas
It totally depends. Generally, we count 1 cr for a year long class and .5 credit for a semester long class. But those are on a high school level. College is deeper and twice as fast. A 3-4 unit class, therefore, was 1 credit on the high school transcript. I also labeled the courses that they completed at the college as "Honors" versions of the high school equivalent, since they were deeper and twice as fast. Exceptions to that rule were Spanish and Health, both of which were no faster or deeper than high school, so they didn't get the "honors" distinction.
