How do you like Your Story Hour? Other US History on CD?

I would like to listen to US History in the car. We love the Diana Waring CD's for World History and want to find the same thing for US History.

It looks like My Story Hour isn't chronological? Is this correct? Do you like these?

Are there other overviews of US History available on CD that you recommend?

Thanks!

We have loved Your Story Hour. It is not always as "professional" as I would like....or maybe it is just that sometimes a character's voice will irritate me, but the kids love it. It is not chronological, but over the years we have come to own most of them, and I will use them in the car to reinforce what we have already learned. It is nice to be able to use it to go in depth on a person we may not have time to cover. We also use Jim Weiss, you can listen to him read SOTW, which I will sometimes do to reinforce a topic, and he has his own history ones....we really like "The Queen's Pirate" about Sir Francis Drake and Queen Elizabeth. He also has one on the Masters of the Renaissance.

One other one, that we haven't used in a while, is Living Principles of America, put out by Nest (http://www.nestfamily.com). It is chronological,36cds, going from Columbus to Lindbergh. It mainly hits the high points. I will add, and it has been a while since we have listened to these, that there may be a slant to them that I, personally, did not care for. I can not remember what it was....I don't think it was anything terrible, just that I didn't completely agree with their viewpoint on a few things.hth.

We adore Your Story Hour here. We don't do some of the other "story tapes" because of character issues in them, so YSH is a biggie here.

There are not chronological tapes for US History. There are for the Bible, and they are fantastic, BTW. The US History stories are sprinkled in with other biographical and fiction stories. They are all good, and the US History biographies are very inspiring and educational. The stories of George Washington, The Great Locomotive Race (Civil War,) and Henry Ford are our favorites.
