Those who travel over seas I have a ??

Recommended Posts

I am actually flying to meet dh in England while he has a 3 week business trip there. I don't want to meet him looking like I just flew over the ocean....kwim. Are there any tricks you know of or learned along the way to arrive looking "put together" and presentable after 8-9hrs of flying.

Drink lots and lots of water. Bring some hand lotion with you so you can rub it on several times. My skin actually dries out and cracks on long flights. Bring something that you can put on your hair for the static fly aways from the dry air. Don't wear make up on the flight. Wait till you get there and while everyone else is waiting for the baggage to come through you run to the bathroom and freshen up. Your hubby can't see you until you pass through customs anyways, so you have time.

Have fun!

:iagree: The only thing I would add to this is to give the in-flight movie or those individual seat screens a miss. Put on some music and SLEEP -- especially if you're taking a late flight. I think drinking lots of water is probably the most important piece of advice. Have loads of fun!! My hubby and I dream about the time we can afford to travel to England & Scotland. We just love it there!

Wear something made for travel. Knit rayon that doesn't WRINKLE! I usually just wear jogging pants and a t-shirt - but I get off the plane looking like I just got out of bed. I can't stand wearing jeans for that long and I haven't been trying to impress anyone getting off the plane so it hasn't been an issue.

LOL. I don't know any tricks. If you are able to sleep on the flight that will be great. I never can. :001_smile:

Oh except pack deodorant. You will need that!

Yes! Deodorant is key. :) You'll want your toothbrush easily accessible, too.

And it can't be said enough-drink water and use lotion. I also like to spend a bit of time standing up at the back of the plane so I don't feel quite so spent after the flight.

One idea is to change into PJs (light weight sweats, for example) for the flight, then change back at the airport when you arrive. Your husband won't be able to come to the gate anyway, so you might as well change and freshen up at the airport before you see him on the other side of passport control.
