Ann@thebeach
OK, I know that one does not NEED a schedule of any kind for prek or even K for that matter. I'm the queen of relaxed hsing for the most part. I've never used a formal schedule before in my 4 yrs of hsing. But my 4 yr old son is really needing/ready for some more "routine" in our day and he likes to sit and do activities with me or his siblings. We just never seem to have things prepared consistently and I feel like he's being shortchanged now since I'm spending the bulk of my time with the older two kids. I'm expecting in June and hoping to find a simple schedule of read a louds and simple activities that are just open and go type things that I can use for myself when the baby comes so I don't have to think what to plan and the older kids can do them with him too. I already have a few Kumon workbooks, puzzles, and games to use with him and saving those for after the baby comes. He knows his numbers to 10 and can count to 20. He knows most letters by sight and all the letter sounds and actually is starting to sound out words (sooo different from my first son!) So I know he's ready to learn and he seems really eager to soak up new info right now, I hate to waste the interest KWIM?? I'm not looking for a whole curriculum, just a simple and fun "schedule" or daily list of books to read and a few activities. (I'm aware of FIAR, he's not into reading the same bk every day) Thanks for any ideas! Ann
squirtymomma
How about SL P4/5?
Ohdanigirl
Have you read The Read Aloud Handbook? I think you would find it very helpful, I sure did. My son loves The Very Hungry Caterpillar and James and the Giant Peach. The hand book has a list and explanations on reading levels, listening levels, etc. Your local library should have it. Good Luck! Danielle
Ann@thebeach
How about SL P4/5? off looking for Sonlight catalog now ;) I've never officially used their guides but I use their catalog for the book lists which are great! I may be able to use their book list for this age level and plug it into a pre-printed weekly schedule.

Veritaserum
I just got this (Hewitt Preschool Plus) for my 4.5-year-old. I'm so excited! :D It's a schedule of great read alouds (most of which we already owned) and simple activities.
Penelope
I am thinking about something similar for my 4 yo this coming year. I know there is an alternative SL schedule for SL pre-K that a SL mom made up, which also adds in some workbooks and other things. There is a yahoo group for it but I lost the bookmark. I know there are some new books in the program since I heard about this, but that shouldn't be a big deal. Anyone know what I'm talking about? If not I'll start a new thread about it. mommyto6
I'm not sure if this is the same one you're talking about, but this is a link to the Sonlight Preschool Yahoo Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SLPreschool/ . There are some good schedules on there for P4/5. I'm about to start P3/4 for my 3 & 4 yr olds. I'd love to find a schedule for it. There is a resource called Peak With Books that looks really great and uses most of the same books Sonlight uses. I'm thinking of either using it with the SL books or Just creating my own. LadyAberlin
I've used Preschool Plus and I really like it. I've also used picturebook preschool which is basically a weekly list of books organized around a theme. There really aren't activities with it. But we enjoyed reading the books. I am also using Learn and Grow Preschool and I really love it. It has a daily book list and a series of activity suggestions to go along. I really love it. http://www.semicolonblog.com/?page_id=2006 http://www.homeschool-your-boys.com/learnandgrowpreschoolcurriculum.html
