OKS
I am planning on using CLE 7 and Lightning Lit 7 together next year. My question is this: Will that provide enough writing instruction and vocabulary development? I was thinking of using Writing Strands and Vocabulary from Classical Roots as well, but after looking at the materials from CLE and Hewitt, realized it might be overkill. I want my 7th grader to be well educated, but not burnt out :) Can anyone share their experience with this? thanks so much!
MIch elle
LL&C 7 provides opportunities for writing. I needed writing instruction so we switched to CLE reading 7 and IEW writing. Look at the CLE S&S to see what's in reading : http://www.clp.org/documents/2452/original/2008_Scope_Sequence_grades_1-8.pdf Also look at the CLE reading samples. OKS
Michelle, thanks; it did not appear that either gave writing instruction, but I guess I was hoping I was wrong so that there would be one less thing for me to do! However, I did notice quite a bit of vocabulary and root words as I looked through the units. Do you feel like it covers enough, or do you use separate vocab materials (like vocab from classical roots?) thanks!

That's what we've use so far but I'm thinking of adding Vocabulary for the High School Student used over 2 years. My older ds uses Vocabulary for the College Bound Student for 9th grade.
