Guest islandmom24
Hello, I am trying to figure out what to do next year for Hist with my upcoming 3rd and 5th graders. We are finishing SL Core 3 right now. We love reading, but I'm looking for something different for next year to put in in a few words. I'm looking at WP and MFW right now. I've heard that SOTW Vol. 4 is a little much for the younger ones-treatment of topics way too mature for anyone under 4th... I really need to have my oldest 2 together for hist. and I would love something that incorporates fun crafts-they're really into that. Any suggestions? melopher
We are doing WP AS2 after doing SL Core 3, and AS2 has been great. I have used the Core 4 readers for my boys, and it's been a nice balance. I've even learned a ton this year, and it's been fun too.
Hoggirl
I didn't want to use volume 4 of SOTW b/c I thought it was too "heavy" for 4th grade. We used VP's grade 6 year for 5th grade. Honestly, there isn't much difference between them for the cards themselves. There is some overlap as VP starts with the Monroe Doctrine, but we loved it. I fleshed it out with lots of books, but we also got lots of good "facts," too.
