Rachel in KY
and I want one with the pull-out freezer drawer on the bottom. I'm trying to decide if I want French doors or a single door. My fridge lives right next to a wall, and I'm afraid French doors would be inconvenient as the wall would inhibit the left door from opening all the way. I'm leaning toward Kenmore. I have a Maytag (freezer on top) that has peed in the floor for almost 12 years...ever since I got it. Once this hurdle is cleared, I'm going to start saving for a front loader washer/dryer set. Can't wait!
Jennifer in MI
We just bought a new refrigerator. We ended up with an Amana 25 cubic feet. Ours has the freezer on the bottom with the single door on top. I had originally wanted the french door style, but we found a floor model sale and couldn't pass up the deal on this one! (Down from $1500 to $700!!) So far I don't mind the single door. The only downside that I can see right now is that when it swings open, it is right at head-level of my 3 yo! And, it is HEAVY! So, I'm a little worried that she'll get knocked out by it someday! LOL Oh - and we do have to make sure it shuts all the way. I don't know if that's just this model or an issue with all the single door units. We got rid of a side-by-side (not what I would've picked, but it was in the house when we moved in). I hated that thing!! I'm SO happy with all the space in my new one! I can put a whole pizza in there! And, a gallon of milk fits in the door! Happy shopping!!! Can't wait! We have a Kenmore with the French doors, and there's a wall on the left side, which does keep the door from opening wide, but it opens far enough that it's flush with the side of the refrigerator, and that's been far enough. For our space, I think I single door would be more inconvenient - I like being able to just open one side to get out what I need.
i.love.lucy
Oh I want a new fridge SO. BAD. The question I have is don't those freezer drawers on the bottom just become like a big box that you are throwing things in and can't find again without digging around? Kind of like trying to find one shirt in the folded clothes in the laundry basket - eventually it all gets tumbled around? I still have the one we got when we bought our first house in 1990.:blush5: It's a Kenmore. The dang thing won't just die already! :glare: It's the freezer on top variety. Not even side/side. We bought that kind to save a few bucks way back then and I have hated it ever since. It taught me to spend a teensy bit extra for something that may last for so many years. IOW, think ahead! There IS hope! We thought ours would never die!! The second it started making that funny noise, I was off to Sears!! Now, if only the dishwasher and stove would die too! The freezer on the bottom - mine has a drawer that pulls out with the door. It's fairly deep, so I guess things could get lost in there, but I haven't had a problem with it yet. Then, there is a second drawer that is on top of this one that is not quite as deep. We have a second freezer where we tend to store most of our longer term frozen items. So, I just pull out of that freezer what I need for the week. My upstairs freezer really doesn't have too much in it. So that could be why it's just not been an issue for us. Here's hoping your fridge dies soon!
mom4him
I have had a Maytag bottom freezer w/pullout and have totally loved it. I have used the freezer part more than any other fridge-freezer I have ever had. No leaks here.
Tap
I have been shopping for one too. Costco has a good deal on the Whirlpool one right now http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11301708&whse=BC&topnav=&browse=&lang=en-US&s=1 $1699 delivered. It is the one with the ice/water in the door. I talked to a reputable sales person lately at an appliance store. He said that they have had complaints about the quality of the LG brand. Amana, Whirlpool and Kenmore are all good and are basically the same. He said Amana is more expensive here, but that there isn't a quality difference, it is only more expensive. Amana makes all the bottom freezers no matter which brand you buy.

Think ahead. Buy the one that makes you happy. I just spent $$$ on a dishwasher AND I purchased the 5 year extended warranty because I want to be HAPPY with something I use so much and I don't want to have to worry about it. (The last one - el cheapo - died 1.5 years after we'd bought it. Yuk.)
Suzanne in ABQ
I have a GE Profile, with a bottom pullout freezer drawer and french doors. I just checked, and you will have no trouble opening the inside drawers with the main door only open at 90 degrees. You would not, however be able to remove the drawers. Also, if the frig is placed within a few inches of the side wall, you wouldn't be able to open it even 90 degrees, due to the handle and the width of the door. As for the freezer drawer, it is compartmentalized, and has sliding tray to help organize the stuff inside. Also, there is a basket at the top of the door for small things. There is also another wide drawer inside, above the main door-drawer. Mine has a clear front. It's very easy to find what I'm looking for.
