6packofun
Do any of these hotels in downtown Cincy offer a continental breakfast? We're staying at the Millennium and for as much as we're paying it would be nice to get something to eat in the morning. :001_huh: And no food/coolers can be brought in. Hmph. Where is everyone staying? lol
6packofun
We're changing to the Hyatt Regency. They have a breakfast bar. LOL It's a little more than I wanted to pay, but it's last minute so oh well! (We also had a King size bed for me and my friend to *share* and we'll get 2 doubles at the Regency. Whew! ;) ) Edited April 14, 2009 by 6packofun ..
ladydusk
I'm staying with my inlaws, but my friends are staying at the Millennium and your post about food has thrown us for a loop! Do you know about our social group for this conf?
Denise in IN
6pack, please come and join our social group! We're getting together for lunch on Friday, and we'd love to have you join us!
6packofun
Well, after all that we're just staying at the Millennium after all. The Hyatt's $119 rate doesn't even include the breakfast! Sheeeeesh. I'd love to join everyone for lunch on Friday, but I'm driving down from Cleveland that day with a friend and don't think we'll get there in time. Boohooo!! I hope everyone has fun, though. Where are you eating? :) I think we're just gonna break the rules, be rebels and sneak some granola bars and fruit into the hotel. LOL! Holly IN
I think we're just gonna break the rules, be rebels and sneak some granola bars and fruit into the hotel. LOL! I am staying at the Hilton. They too do not allow any coolers in the hotel. So we will smuggle snacks inside our suitcases. Holly
Jlq4
We are staying at the Hyatt Regency. I got the room for $45/night on Priceline. I was going back and forth about just booking a room at the two recommended hotels, but my husband said to try the bidding first. Now, I have more $$ to spend on curriculum. 6packofun
Did you book that recently?
angela in ohio
We're paying $53/night for a nice hotel with free deluxe breakfast and an indoor pool. We have to drive out a bit, but it is worth it.
6packofun
Oh my gosh, we just took the plunge and used Priceline and my dh and I are screaming like 2 giddy schoolgirls at our deal!!! ROTFL We got the Hyatt, too! It was so hilarious waiting to see which hotel we'd get...I've never used Priceline before and that was too much excitement for me. :D Thanks!!! Now I can *afford* to get breakfast. Heehee

Jlq4
Yes, I just booked it through Priceline about 3 days ago. Here's an FYI if you ever wonder what hotels could possibly come up through Priceline, you can use a Priceline cheat sheet. Just go to betterbidding.com or I think it is biddingtravel.com, or Google--Priceline cheat sheet. The websites list by city and what star level you choose to use on Priceline, the likely hotels that you would end up with. We use Priceline a lot since my son plays travel hockey. Also, ladies you can look up deal for about anything through slickdeals.net (that's where I found the Priceline cheat sheets).
Holly IN
I am interested in this. So in order to successfully use the priceline I need the cheat sheet? Is it better to do this early on say around September than January? I really liked our Hilton stay except for the prices of the breakfast buffet. Even with the discount it was way too much!! Can you usually get a better price without using the Midwest contract? My dh is really good at haggling the price for hotels during our Bible Bowl trips. Mom2boys
Did you like the Hyatt? We stayed at the Millennium, and it was fine, but it was $99/night. Were you happy with the Hyatt? Would you stay there next year?
Holly IN
I stayed at the Hilton. They have been very helpful to all the Midwest customers. We all got a letter stating that because of the demands for the room there will be no late checkouts. So they offered up one of their special rooms to store our luggage until 7:00 pm. They also offered fast checkout of leaving the keys in the room without going through the checkout process at the front desk. They sent us the bills in the morning and if we agreed to the charges then we just leave the keys in the room and take our luggage to the storage special room. The rooms were wonderful. The beds were a dream to sleep on. WOW!! The rooms were huge. Lots of space to move around. It was well worth the money spent to stay there. I wouldn't go for their breakfast buffet. It is cheaper to eat at Starbucks for breakfast than there. Holly
angela in ohio
I heard horrible things about the Millenium, so I was wondering how the Hyatt was. Is there a pool at the Hyatt by any chance? I would love to stay in downtown next year, but an indoor pool is a requirement for dh and the kiddos.
ladydusk
My friends were not at all impressed with the Millennium: the lack of preparation for two large groups checking in; the temperature control was not good ... my friends were fixing it at 2 in the morning (the window heater/cooler in a room of that price?!); and they never got more toilet paper in their room. I don't know if the prices were the same at the other hotels for parking, but they were going to be charged $20 a day to park downtown? We did like the restaurant, the $18 dinner special on Friday was excellent and a lot of food for the price (although at the lunch with SWB, I felt bad for the one waitress who was trying to deal with us and I was frustrated that my check wasn't processed until after her talk had started. While I think it is a superb conference organization, content, and shopping wise, the food issues (don't bring in your own, $3 bottles of water, nutritious food was offsite and expensive) and the convention center/hotel/parking garage's lack of preparation for that many people (long lines to check in, long lines at the convention center Starbucks, 40 minutes to get out of the garage Thursday night) was a touch frustrating.
