Bananagrams players question

Recommended Posts

My son received Bananagrams for his birthday. I'm wondering about a couple of the rules. If you are playing along and you get down to one or more tiles in your own pile, and there are no words that you can make, do you peel or dump a tile?

And when you do use up all of your tiles and it is time to get more from the bunch how many times do you peel in a row? Do you do it one at a time? Maybe 7 or so? How do you decide?

You can rearrange your tiles throughout the game. If you know that won't help and you still have tiles, you just wait till someone calls "peel". I didn't even know you could "dump" a tile! LOL When we've played and ALL the players couldn't move forward, we just all decided to pick another tile and that started it going again.

Every player takes just ONE tile each time someone yells "peel".

HTH!:001_smile: We love Bananagrams - we took it to our Easter dinner yesterday and played it with 14 relatives! LOL

Thanks :)

So if I use up all of my tiles and call peel, all players take one tile. But that means that I will only have one tile to make words with until someone else peels. We were playing that the person who called peel kept calling peel until they had as many letters as they wanted to start trying to make news words.

mamapjama: That sounds exactly how we play. There are only three of us. The challenge for us has been when one of us peels and only takes one more tile (and now say we have two extra tiles in hands) we often have to rearrange a world already spelled, or take tiles from other words and rearrange them. I felt so hopeless the first time I had to do this, but I won! It made for an exciting challenge.

I would like to add that we entirely addicted to this game. My husband and I will often play just the two of us. We fight using the dictionary now. ;)

Well, there are a few variations of it in the directions I think. But we read it as though you can only call "peel" when all the tiles in your set are played.
