kalanamak
I saw the cover on Amazon and in the middle of the list of topics is Bible. Is this one part of each chapter or sprinkled liberally throughout? Thanks
chiguirre
A lot! Most of the read alouds are missionary stories (at least in the sample chapter). I would have loved a program like this last year, but GtG would require such major reworking if you're not an evangelical Christian that it's not worth buying, IMHO. Here's a link to their sample chapter: http://www.geomatters.com/files/samples/GTG-SampleLesson.pdf

I'm willing to spend real money on this :).
LanaTron
We're going to use Trail Guide to World Geography next year. I love that I can teach each of my dc at his or her own level! Evan-Moor also has some good geography selections.
Mom0012
Gosh, we did GTG and I didn't think of it as religious at all. I didn't really use most of their recommended resources because it was a number of years ago and I didn't like what they suggested at that time. For the most part, I went to the library with my GTG book and picked up as many of the fiction and non-fiction book suggestions that I could find. I also used the worksheets in GTG and got ideas from it for crafts and activities. I searched on the web for fun activities to go with each country as well. The Families of the World and My Family from ______ videos were a great addition too. So it is possible to do this in a very secular way. Unless the main book has totally changed when the updated it, you really don't need the resource books to do it. The only one I really used was Children Just Like Me and that was a keeper. They didn't have the cookbook at the time, or I would have tried to have used that as well. We did GTG for my son's kindergarten year and it was a lot of fun and he learned so much. chiguirre
We used Five in a Row for K, making a point to do all the books set in different countries. We'll do geography again at the end of our current SL Core 1/2 remix using DK's Children's Atlas in place of Windows on the World.
SnowWhite
The main Christian resources are R&S's Our Father's World workbook, the missionary stories and then at the end of every section are Bible verse references you can use to discuss the literature selections.
