mom22722
I recently stumbled accross a book that shows you how to make these and I wondered if anyone here ever used this book. If so are the activities easy to make? Once the bags are made could a 3 year old do them on their own or do they need mom to help? Thanks
classicHSmom
Twice! About five years ago my MOPS group did them and then last fall my homeschool group did them. It works out best if you can do them as a group. That way you only have to make one activity and duplicate it. Plus it saves on costs and you get a variety. Each bag is supposed to cost around $1 each if done in a larger quantity. The only drawback is that most of them take hours and hours to make. My kids (2, 4, and 6) enjoy them and can do them on their own or with very little guidance. I say go for it!
Amber in AUS
I didn't use a book but recently put together a heap of pre-school and kindy activity bags for my kiddos. They are proving a huge hit and for the most part my DC can do them by themselves which is excellent. I have them in an easy access place, they can be used during school time only and the kids can collect and pack up by themselves. If DS gets one he can't figure out he just assumes I made that one for DD and pops it back on the shelf and chooses another. It did take me about 2 - 3 hours to put together but we have had a stress free week because of them. I did post some ideas on my blog about what i put in the bags here. http://thenappyboutique.com.au/blog/Pre-School-Activity-Bags.html If you check out some other pages you will see them in use. Mama2two
We just did a swap with my homeschool group, really looking forward to using them!
FO4UR
I participated in a swap a while back and I think it was worth it. (I wouldn't want to do all the bags by myself) Most activities can be done independantly by a 3yo - it depends on your 3yo, I suppose. I got these when my dd was 3 and she loved the fabric matching cards and sewing big buttons with shoe strings. Thanks for reminding me I have these:001_smile:
calandalsmom
We also did them as a group and they were fun to assemble and have been a blessing to my dd! Some projects in the bok were a little more convoluted- one was fishing for paper clipped fish, iirc? that was more involved because tiny holes had to be drilled in dowels. Nakia
We did a swap over at FIAR a few years back, and it was great! The activities are a lot of fun. I would love to do it again!
mom2abunch
I didn't have much luck with them. I think it had more to do with trying to make them all myself. If you participate in a swap it might go much better.
