ciyates
I was wondering if anyone used the Henty books for history? Is so how did you create your program. Thanks Carrie :)
Cedarmom
Not sure if this will answer your question or not. I used it more to supplement history than as history. I used them in my son's middle school years. We used Kingfisher and Usborne as a spine and supplemented it with historical fiction. We also used one or two from Omnibus's secondary readings. Kathleen in VA
Haven't done it because we only own about 5 of them, but I did find this nifty list of all the books in chronological order: http://www.henty.com/s86p1428.htm
Laurie4b
The Henty books are decent historical fiction; however, there is some really egregious racial stuff in some of the books. I'm not talking about what we in the 21st century would perceive as racial insensitivity if it were written now, but which was common at the time; rather, there is racially negative stuff well beyond other authors of his time period.
