Janna
My dd will be turning 11 in about a week and a half. Soon, she is taking the safe-sitters course at the local hospital. One of the things we're giving her for her birthday is a "baby-sitters survival kit". I could use some ideas to put in this kit (which will probably be a cute bag that I'll find to load up). So far, we're thinking: 1st aid kit pre-paid cell phone a "Toddler busy book" (ideas to do with toddlers) age-appropriate craft supplies (?) Any other ideas? Care to help with specific craft supplies? Thanks for your thoughts!
Jean in Newcastle
And interesting story book (something like "Goodnight Moon") Some of the Lauri toddler puzzles?

Karen sn
a notebook to write down parent's phone number, where they'll be, doctor's phone number, allergies, bedtime, etc. LauraD in MN along with poison control
Stacia
If you google 'babysitter notepad', you'll find quite a few cute notepads that your dd could take w/ her & have the parents fill out before they leave. It would be good if the pad also had a space for what to do w/ pets, if anything (letting the dog out to use the bathroom, etc...). I'd be careful w/ craft supplies in case there's a toddler or baby around. It might be hard to pre-stock her bag until you know the ages of the kids. A laminated sheet of paper w/ emergency numbers like 911, poison control, your number, etc.... (Hmmm. Maybe the # of a locksmith -- thinking back to when my sis was babysitting 3 boys who ran outside, she ran after them, then they doubled-back & locked her out. ;)) Cute idea for the bag. Kudos to your dd.
mooooom
(I don't want your present to be redundant - you might want to call and ask). I know she also got a flashlight - in case the electricity fails.
Jen500
You could make and print some fill in the blank forms, with spaces for allergies, parent's cell number, emergency number, kid's favorite toys/food, etc.
Janna
Yeah, she will get a bag, but it's really just information for emergency's. The babysitter we currently use brings her bag from her safe-sitters course and my dd has looked at it over and over again, LOL. A flashlight for power outage is a great idea! Maybe Go Fish cards (they sell them w/ fish, w/ animals, w/ food, w/ letters, etc) Cute bandaids (just in case, the cute ones may distract a child),Odds and ends: fabric scraps, uncooked macaroni, dried beans, cotton balls, large bouncy balls for older children, just a few ideas! Janna
Those are great ideas, and exactly what I had in mind (well, fun *and* practical). Thank you!
