mom31257
Could anyone share their experience with this science series, especially if it can be used in a co-op type setting? I might be teaching a class next year for middle school, so I was looking at the chemistry or physics since they said up to 13 and 14 year old children. The class would be once a week, maybe 1.5 to 2 hours. What are the lessons like? Are the experiments easily and cheaply done, or do you need lots of expensive equipment and hard to find items? Would the parents all need the book (I would think so, but wanted to ask)? Thanks! Edited April 4, 2009 by mom31257 give more detail

amtmcm
Hi! We haven't used this yet but plan to use CKE Earth & Space in a co-op next year. I think 30 lessons is perfect for a co-op and the book is inexpensive so everyone can buy it and do the reading at home. Then the class will discuss students' answers to the lesson questions and complete the lab together. I plan to buy all the lab materials at the beginning of each semester to have on hand and ready to go for before class. The lists for each book are on http://www.brightideaspress.com. Here's a link for the Chemistry list: http://www.brightideaspress.com/samples/CKEC_Materials_List.txt HTH,
