Moxie
Right now, I'm going through GWG 1&2 with my 8 and 6 year olds. If we finish the 2nd grade part, that will put my 6 year old in GWG 3rd grade next year; I'm worried that that will be over her head. If we stop GWG at the start of the 2nd grade part and I put the 8 year old in GWG 3 next year (8 year old skipping 2, and 6 year old using 2 next year) is there enough review that he won't be missing too much? kaylk in tx
they originally did not intend to have books for grades 1 and 2. grade 3 was written to be a first intro to grammar so delaying her start should not be a problem at all.
arcara
Your older dd wouldn't have any trouble jumping into GWG 3 without finishing GWG 2. Your younger dd > may < have trouble with GWG 3 at age 6 because it introduces diagramming. But, maybe not! My 6-year-old saw my older dd's GWG book and saw the diagramming, and she was really interested! But, I told her that she would have to wait. :)
Moxie
Thanks!! I think my 8 year old will skip grade 2 and my 6 year old will do grade 2 next year. Glad to have that decision made!
Samiam
Grammar is all review, every year, once you get past 3rd grade or so, but then you just add on to it. My son is doing GWG5, and there is review of basic concepts before diving into the new stuff. For example, it might say what a noun is..then talk about direct objects/indirect, and then talk about proper/common, etc etc. So basically here is the noun, and now here is some more info about the noun. My son just finished the chapter on nouns, and almost new of it was new info to him.
