Wyndie
Hi all. My dd (7) is very right brain dominant but a few years ago, while learning to hold a pencil, decided she wanted to be like the rest of us and hold in her right hand. She struggles mightily with writing b/c she's using the wrong hand, but refuses to switch over. For background, she used to have autism - recovered now but we still have issues to overcome from that time of illness... this is a big one b/c it hampers her in all areas of learning. She's having to work extra hard to get her right brain to tell her left brain to tell her right hand to write... does that make sense? Anyway, I have read to try Handwriting without Tears but to do Brain Integration Therapy for Children By Dianne Craft first. This seems like such a labor intensive program and I really don't feel I can devote that kind of intense work if there are other options. Anyone have any ideas of what to use to help her? If I need to help her learn to write leftie, I am willing to go there. Her Pawpaw is a leftie and is willing to help as well. Anyone have any better ideas of how to get her from where she is now to writing without such problems? Thank you in advance. :)
Wyndie
Great idea! We can sure make it a game. :) Do you think it's possible to just go straight to HWT when she's dealing with this issue? Is it really necessary to use a transitional program or should I just jump on in and tell her it's a program for lefties?

Wyndie
Great site, thank you! I'm hoping the switch to leftie will be easy on her and it's good to have papers ready. I KNOW she would have issues with not being able to see her work; she's mentioned before that she doesn't know how Pawpaw can see what he's writing. :) These worksheets will help tremendously.
