Holly in FL
We just recently bought new sheets for our bed...but, our old ones (about 12 years old!) are still in good condition. I would rather donate them...but, hubby hates giving things away we "might use again" someday for something. ?? What might that "something" be? Does anyone store old sheets for another use? I recently donated my hubby's old water bed sheets that we've stored for 15 years! He had a water bed before we got married. I just couldn't keep them any longer!! Smiles! Right now, I am washing all the sheets...plus, all our blankets...to put in those "Space Bags." However, I really don't want to use up a bag for old sheets if I don't have to. Any reason(s) to keep them? Thanks! ~Holly
chai
Currently, my old sheets are draped over all of my living room furniture because my hard wood floors are being refinished. They have also seen time outside covering pots and plants when we have an unseasonable freeze. At some point, they may get cut up to be used as rags. I, personally, wouldn't give away 12-year-old sheets.
Mabeline
I have read here on the boards that some people have cut old sheets to make cloth napkins. At my church the quilting group uses them to back their quilts. I you don't do either of these I would get rid of them. Good Luck!
Tina
A couple times dh has wanted them to cover furniture or the trailer bottom when hauling things. I think they should be saved in 'his' storage area myself. ;)
dcjlkplus3
They make good picnic blankets (grass doesn't stick to them as badly as it does to blankets). They also make good forts and are handy to have around when you are painting. I remember my Grandma using them for sewing trial/first effort type things. danybug
I use old sheets for our dog. I cover the couch chair he sleeps on and I use them to cover our leather seats when we take him in the car. That is about the only use I have ever found for ours. I have donated kids flannel ones before, but they were barely used.
elegantlion
I use them for paint tarps when I spray paint. If you fold them a couple of time the paint shouldn't bleed through.

I hadn't thought of picnic blankets and for painting. Those are great ideas. We already have a bunch of twin-sized sheets the children use for forts. Holly in FL
Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions! I'll save them for now. Smiles! ~Holly
Nestof3
No. I donate them or make rags out of them -- depending on the condition. When I wash sheets, I dry them and put them back on the bed in the same day. I do keep an extra sheet for my boys in case of an accident. :)
Heather in the Kootenays
Our church women tear them in strips and makes bandages to send to Africa. Has anyone mentioned that they can be used to protect gardens from frost.

newbie
We are always looking for old sheets, whether to move furniture or use so people can walk on during construction. There is a ton of other things, but too early for me to think of. Keep your sheets, you never know when you might need them.
