Janie
If you have confirmed someone to friend status and later want to deselect him, how do you do that? Thanks!

Dooley
Me and my sister did some "tests" and everything just disappears...no notifications like "ATTENTION - Janie just deleted you from her network of friends! Its like there was never a connection or posts, those go too...so hopefully, they will just never wonder...whatever happened to Janie.... Jeannie in NJ
you can also block someone and if they do a search for you, it is like you don't exist (at least you don't exist on Facebook lol).
Janie
Thanks! Did it. Another question: If you "Send [friend's name] a message," will that be public or private? Thanks!
Dooley
Private.

Paula in MS
But...they won't be able to access your page. Is that right? That would be a dead give away that they weren't a friend anymore. Or do I have that wrong? Paula
Sara R
Yes, their friend count will go down. And if you had sent messages in the past, your face won't show up anymore in that message. That can be a giveaway.
Staci in MO
It was the daughter of a friend of mine, and I think she didn't want her mom's friends (and therefore her mom) knowing what she was up to at college. :( Anyway, I wouldn't have known, except a mutual friend commented on one of her pictures, and it showed up on my main page that mutual friend had commented. When I tried to comment on the picture, it said I had to be friends with her to do so. When I pulled up my friends list, she sure enough wasn't there. So, this person could realize it eventually, but they won't get a notice.
songbirdie
You can pseudo-unfriend someone by leaving them in your friends list, but go into your settings and block them from anything you want. You can block them from writing on your wall, or seeing your photo tab, or seeing your status updates, etc. . . .anything you want to block them from. They will simply not see an option for writing on your wall - it won't tell them "you must be friends" because they still are friends. To do any of this you simply click in the upper right corner on "settings", then click on "privacy", then click on "profile", then click in the field next to every activity you want to block them from and select the option "all friends except" and type their name in the box. Go back out of "profile" and click on "news feed and wall" to restrict them in there as well. This is the way I had to use so that the person didn't get their feelings hurt or become angry. They won't know unless they are with someone else who logs on and views your page and they see it's different from the way they view your page. Sounds complicated, but if you follow the instructions, it's VERY EASY and they never get a message about it.
