Hey Ho friends! Anyone remember me???

Recommended Posts

Howdy WTM boardies!! Long time no see!! I honestly don't know when I was on last... months and months ago, an eternity it seems!

Can I start out by saying how SICK I am that I won't be able to attend the conference in May? That is our opening weekend of Annie and my daughter is Mrs. Pugh. Do you think she would notice if I took off? Seriously, this is a MAJOR bummer for me. SWB, you're just going to have to host a private visit from us :)

Nothing much in the way of an update... I've taken a part time job that is really much more than part time (this explains my absence from the boards). My dd is loving theatre. We are finishing up Chalkdust PreAlgebra (which is worth special mention because it will be the first time we actually FINISH a math book. Big shout out for CD). My dd will be 14 this summer, can you believe???

We saw the broadway production of Les Miserables today and I am a complete puddle. I broke down three times. I just know someone here will commiserate with that :).

I think of everyone here regularly. I can't imagine what all I've missed!! What's the board highlights of the year? Any raging curriculum wars? Any new must haves for middle/high school?

Gosh, it feels good to pop in. Hope you are all having a great year, and that things slow down for me soon so I can drop by more often.

Your faithful WTM friend,

Robin

Hi Robin!

It's great to see you. I've been hanging out here more than I should, but it's not the same without you!

Someone was just posting the other day about crying their way through Les Mis. So, I know you're not alone.

I won't be going to VA either. I'm singing in a Renaissance group, and our concert is that weekend.

The political wars got a little too interesting for awhile, so all political discussions were banned. Lot's of people were banned too. We have new rules now.

There were a few hot threads, but I didn't follow them, so I can't fill you in too well.

I'm just happy that things are going well for you.

Still hoping to meet you in person one day,

Suzanne

I do remember you, and esp. from the old boards. I always enjoyed your input on the boards, esp. about the way you've implemented WTM ideas.

I am going to the conference, and I can't wait. Feel free to pm me afterwards and I'll tell you all about it!!!!!

Robin, I was *just* thinking about you and wondering where you've been. You must have caught my brain waves. I spent a good two weeks trying to figure out how to get to Williamsburg for the conference...dh offered to take me as a 40th bday present...but there was just no easy way to do it. Can you imagine flying 8 hours with one plane change, then needing to rent a car and drive the rest of the way? With a 6 month old? So I reluctantly let him take me to the Melting Pot instead :)

Good to hear everything is going so well. Hugs,

Barb

Hi, Robin! It is great to *see* you again!

It sounds as though you are staying very busy. I was thinking about you in the past month or so; maybe it was a math thread that brought you to my mind.

My boys turned 14 in January so we're gearing up for high school in the fall. Are you getting ready?

Don't be a stranger!

I was just thinking of you yesterday, wondering if CYT had swallowed you and your dd up!!

My oldest ds is going to be Potiphar and a brother in a CYT production of Joseph next month, and he just had a great solo song in a church production of Godspell ("We Beseech Thee"). He is hoping to start auditioning for Disneyland entertainment after he graduates in June.

I'm missing the conference too. We need to figure a WTM weekend get together for those of us west of the Mississsippi...

Oh, sweetheart! It's good to 'see' you! I'm not here very often these days, but there are some posters I really miss seeing when I am here... and here you are! :)

Agreeing with and echoing these sentiments. I'm rarely here anymore, but how nice to see both of you here at once! :001_wub:

Hey Robin!!!! Great to see you!!!!! :-)

I have seen Les Mis several times and I literally start crying and the overture and increase throughout the show until I am sobbing by the end. And not just at the sad parts either. I cry at the patriotic parts and the ending is one of the most beautiful scenes ever.

I'm glad you came to say Hello!!!

Hi Robin! I remember you very fondly! It is wonderful to see you again. I hope that you'll be able to stick around for awhile! Btw, I love Les Mis. It was the first Broadway musical I ever saw, and none have quite had the same impact as that one, since. I hope the tour comes up my way, because I would love to go with dh!

Hi Robin,

So good to see you again. I've been wondering how you've been.

I have been here more this week because we are taking a spring break but I have had to cut down my time just because I couldn't keep up with health issues, then the move and now dh's insane job. I think I'm not as good at multitasking like the ladies here. School just seems to be taking longer and I find that those pockets of time during the school day when I could quickly scan the board get eaten up with other stuff.

So are you going to hang out here again? It seems like I don't see many of the oldtimers anymore. I guess life is busy.

Take care.

Hi Eliana,

It's always good to see you on the boards. Just wanted to say hello!

Take care.

I spent a while dreaming about the conference... there's a programming conference in Pittsburgh dh would love to attend, so I fantasized about combining both with the cross country trip my kids keep begging for and visits to various friends and relations... but the logistics don't work... and realistically speaking, I'm unlikely to be health enough for it, but it was fun to imagine it!

Anyway, I'm glad you're back and I look forward to glimpsing your contributions when I drop by!

I still have your advice:

"Sometimes we get bogged down in the day to day specifics and lose sight of the goal. The most helpful thing I've ever done is continually ask myself "why?" about every single textbook and/or program. Why do I want to do that program? And here's the most important question ... What foundation is it laying for our next level? If it honestly and clearly doesn't play a role as a stepping stone to our final goal, then I have to walk away from it."

I have no idea what date that is from, but it is in my file labeled WTM board advice-Robin in Tx. :)

Oh, and Les Mis is my all-time favorite musical ever! I've seen it several times live. I cry almost any time I hear certain songs from it!

Howdy my dear friend. Love the new avatar.

Dear Robin,

Well, now I know why I was checking in today. I have indeed missed you and have had deep regrets that I have lost your email and phone number and everything else. It sounds like life is going well for you, and for that I am glad!

Les Mis knocks me flat. Saw it in London with some friends and we walked home afterward, completely stunned to silence. The disk still makes me cry.

DS is in school now, a small classical school, as of 2 months ago. It was a good decision, but I am having trouble structuring my day. I have made a quilt or two (baby size) and am reading more. Mostly though, I still chase my tail.

Kind regards,

Your friend,

Patty in WA used to be

Hey, Robin! Always good to see you! I'm not around here much anymore, but think of you with affection.

We're in the thick of CD PreAlgebra - and your finishing it will no doubt be inspiring to US! Thanks for letting us know.... (off to crack the whip!)

(I'm embarrassed to admit that I saw Les Mis on Broadway a bazillion years ago, but was post-call (up for 36 hrs straight)... and fell asleep. Isn't that AWFUL?! I did enjoy the Focus on the Family dramatization :) - and now I'm completely embarrassed.)
