iammommy
Ds, 9, is a very reluctant writer. Not only does he not like to write, he produces very immature work when he does write. Enter Just Write Book 2! (We've been using it for about 3 months now.) Today he sat down and wrote a story by himself! It was NOT part of our school day. OK, the theme was a soldier and killing, but he did it! There was a beginning, a middle, and and end. And it filled the whole sheet of paper. (front only) He remembered to do things chronologically so that the story pretty much made sense. He even included adjectives, comparisons, and dialog! WOOHOO! Now it was far from perfect, and probably a good 2nd grader could do as well, but it was the first time he wrote willingly and produced an OK product! I do have to say it took all my self control not to grab what he had written and start editing it! This was NOT the time for critique. It was a time for praise! LOL He was just beaming that he had written something! A triumph, no matter how small, is still a triumph! Nan:party::party:

Catwoman
A triumph, no matter how small, is still a triumph! Nan:party::party: That's definitely not a small triumph -- it's HUGE!!! I'm so happy for you -- and for your ds, too! But soldiers and killing? Where are the mutant alien robots? Excuse me, I meant to say -- where are the killer mutant alien robots? (or is that just at my house?) ;) Cat
