CalicoKat
who hoo!!!! We're so excited. Four brand spanking new words. Learned. Used. Now she can say In/Out, Open/Closed and Bubbles. She's also been introduced to the signs for music, kitty, bunny, doggie, and blocks. :D

Mabeline
Oh, fun! I enjoyed teaching my babies sign language. My first baby learned about 30 to 40 signs.
Rosie_0801
We don't have a sign for blocks. I can see that it would be handy to have one! Congrats :) Rosie
Rosie_0801
Dd's first sign was Mamma and first word was Dad. We were both happy, even though I'm the hearing one and he's the deafie :) Our latest signs are "broke" and "this hurts right here." Very toddler-like, huh? I'm trying to work on "help" at the moment. It would be so much nicer than ear-piercing screams or other equally unpleasantly pitched noises. Christine
Wow. . . mine learned "drink", "eat" and "please" first, but that might be because he was a non-speaking 2 yo and we needed to get him communicating "necessaries". And, then he took off and learned signs quicker than we, so he started to make up signs for things. . . Thankfully, he started talking. Amber in AUS
That is so great! My DD 18m has 1 sign 'finished' which she tells us at the table after eating or when she has had enough. The older kids can AUSLAN sign finished, more, outside, toilet, please/thankyou, thirsty and food. I wish and hope DD2 can get some more signs under her belt soon because she is non verbal and driving my a little nuts with her meltdowns when I have no idea what she wants. CookieMonster
Isn't it wonderful?! As a mom who had a completely non-verbal 2yo who went through two full years of speech therapy, I do a dance for you today...

Someone else does Auslan! Perhaps your kiddies need some more specific food signs. Mine seems a lot more contented now she can ask for peanut butter sandwiches. :) They might also prefer to sign "drink" instead of "thirsty." It's an easier sign.
