Guest jtm
I'm looking for ideas for my daughter's 9th grade World History. Recommended curriculum or books???
Melissa in Australia
we have just started 9th grade. ( school year starts in February here in Australia). we are doing a combination of Spielvegel's 'western civilization' and 'History of the World Ancients'. combined with the great books reading list in WTM. I am really hoping that the new WTM has some enlightenment on how to use History of the ancient world.
Beth in SW WA
Spielvogel's Human Odyssey You can find it used in various pieces on Amazon -- or here -- on the For Sale board.
rwalizer
We are enjoying trisms Discovering the Ancient World. They actually start at ancient history and each volume moves up in time. You could do one volume each year of hs. They have a lot of information on their website and there is a 30 day return policy. It seems overwhelming at first, but you quickly learn that you don't have to do it all.
Storm Bay
We're going to be doing gr 9 in the fall and plan to use SWB's Ancient History book (can't think of the title--it's on our list of things to purchase this year.) My dd doesn't like history, but liked SOTW, so I think that this will work well for us as our spine. We can use this with WTM/WEM lists of reading of the Ancients. LanaTron
I'm considering using History Odyssey, level 2, when my eldest is in 9th. If I decide against that, I will use the Spielvogel text that Beth in SW WA linked.
Julieofsardis
Thinking about using the Early Modern level II, then Modern II, then moving to the level III Ancients. I thought the level III courses looked a lttle difficult, so I thought waiting another couple of years would be better. Would love some feedback. LanaTron
Thinking about using the Early Modern level II, then Modern II, then moving to the level III Ancients. I thought the level III courses looked a lttle difficult, so I thought waiting another couple of years would be better. Would love some feedback. From everything I've read and heard, the level III guides are very advanced. I also understand that the level II guides are enough to give high school credit for. So, it sounds like you've got a good plan, IMO.
