Dianne-TX
My ds is 8. We use Shiller Math for our main math program. My question is what math practice should he be doing? Shiller is more hands on and doesn't incorporate practice. I've been using worksheetworks.com for math fact practice. It generates one and two digit facts. Can someone recommend something else and what type of math practice he should be doing? I feel like sometimes I'm winging it on the math practice/fact part and I want to be sure I'm where we need to be or at least on the right track. I've also used Singapore, but we stopped when it got to multiplication because Shiller is not there yet. I also have Pre Math It and Math It, but haven't used it yet. Any guidance on those? Thanks for any input on what to use or what to do for practice.
MIch elle
You don't have to time them; this can add unneeded stress. Look here for samples: http://www.rodandstaff.info/samples/math/ The little booklets are the drills. It looks like grade 2 doesn't have any. Rosie_0801
Math on the Level is also very hands on, and requires 5 on paper problems per day. Your kidlet might not need pages and pages of practise. They also have a maths fact ebook, which has good results from what I've read on their yahoo group, but I haven't seen it myself yet. Maths facts don't necessarily need to be learned on paper. From reading on here, it seems most 8 year olds are still wobbly with their maths facts, and that's with practise! Lots of people seem to use games for maths facts reinforcement. You might be doing all you need to do already :) Rosie
