Jean in Wisc
Anyone have a course description for SOS Spanish 1 that they would be willing to share? I wrote this several years ago. If you search the boards, you can find a lot of discussion on SOS Spanish I & II that will give you a better idea of the program. Jean Switched on Schoolhouse Spanish I and II Description: Computer based program. Student reads grammar explanations and stories, listens to native speakers from many different countries, uses a microphone on the computer to speak and compare his speech with the model, and writes answers in the exercises, quizzes, and tests which are graded by the computer. Students may work independently; some teacher interaction is helpful for grading short paragraphs and listening to the taped pronunciation. Target age: Grades 7-12 Price: About $70 per level (year) Strength: Complete, intensive program with a strong grammar component. Weakness: The programmers should have included a wide variety of acceptable answers for each question; a variety of answers the student gives may be correct but is not accepted by the computer program. Copious vocabulary.
