Guest jtm
We are looking for a 9th grade math curriculum for my daughter. I'd love hear opinions on SOS, TT, and Videotext for Geometry.
Sandy in Indy
We used both TT and Videotext. I liked Videotext OK, but we didn't own it and it was a problem sharing the curriculum. I saw TT at convention and decided to try it--ds loved it and did very well with it. I wouldn't use SOS. The other choices are much better. HiddenJewel
Dd13 is halfway through VideoText Algebra Module C, and I am pleased with it. It teaches in bite-size pieces that build on each other. Mastery of a lesson is essential before moving on. It teaches you how to understand a concept inside and out and how to apply it to different situations. It does require a deeper thought process than other programs we have used. I have been very pleased with its comprehensiveness and have not felt the need to supplement. We have used TT Pre-algebra and I really like how they explain things. It did not approach concepts as deeply as VT, but I would use TT again if I was going to use the whole series. ccm
My daughter started VideoText Algebra last week and so far it is going very well. She is my math-phobic, visual-spatial learner and she says she likes math now.:hurray: I have not viewed the Geometry course. We have not used SOS nor Teaching Textbooks so I can't compare.
