mom26
I have struggled with sensitive skin/acne for as long as I can remember...now my skin feels taut and so dry from all the medications for acne I have used over the years...noticing more crows feet and 'laugh lines', bags etc now as well . I have tried a few DHC products and love them but they are so expensive....then I saw a few links to women who discovered this wonderful combination of 2 'anti-aging' products that totally hydrated their skin, made them look younger-yada,yada...they say there are 'free trials' but to me it looks like these are set up by the companies selling the products...seems a bit fishy. Has anyone here tried any of these with success? Any recommendations? I use mineral makeup for my foundation which I love but I really need to get a handle on the moisturizer without breaking the bank. I know aging is inevitable , and I don't want to be outwardly obsessed with the outward appearance, but if there is something that can help my skin look more youthful etc, I'd love to give it a try. Any thoughts amongst you?? Blessings, k
6packofun
If you want something that comes highly recommended but won't break the budget, Olay's 7-in-1 Total Effects face cream for mature skin (fragrance free, preferably) is very good. I use a serum around my eyes and there are many good ones: Olay Regenerist, Garnier Nutritioniste... I use Paula's Choice by Paula Begoun--the "cosmetics cop!" lol--but she gives the Olay 7-in-1 her highest rating, among many others. :) Check out her book Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me for some very good advice and information about choosing your beauty products!! I am using her Hydrating Treatment Cream and it's *great*. I use it for both day and night. I also use one of her serums and her cleanser. Thanks so much for the link and recommendation-I'll check it out. Have you noticed a change in your skin since you started using it? These other sites' that I have seen seem a little too good to be true--with pictures and all but I am so skeptical but really wanting to try something that will work :) Thanks!!! Starr
Avon has several good products. They go on sale regularly.
3littlekeets
Don't laugh until you research it a bit, but Crisco (the white kind in the can for baking) is a fantastic moisturizer if you just need moisture and antioxidants. It is not pore clogging....and absorbs nicely! I also like Atopalm from the drugstore. For fine lines, if you don't want to go with Retinoids, you should add a Vit. C serum to your routine...I order skinceuticals CE Ferulic, but you can make your own for pennies! Avalon Organics makes a nice one, too. Under my sunscreen, I always use a serum with Hyaluronic Acid to pull moisture to the surface. Garden of Wisdom is very inexpensive and I love their Immortelle HA serum. And, if you aren't already, you need a sunscreen everyday; one that is stable and has a high UVA rating, not just SPF. There are few readily available ones in the US versus Europe, but they are worth it. Anyway, I know you just said moisturizer and may be doing the other things, but often are problems with lines are not moisture related. I spend way to much time at makeupalley dot com on the skincare boards :-).
Ellie
I use Artistry skin care products and am very pleased with them. Artistry is exclusively distributed by Amway/Quixtar folks; you can probably find someone local who might even have free samples.
Kim in Appalachia
I haven't found anything else that seems to work as well (though I would like to!) Crisco is an interesting idea. I don't know if I'm brave enough to try it!
3littlekeets
ICrisco is an interesting idea. I don't know if I'm brave enough to try it! I know...it took me awhile, too! But,at makeupalley it is raved about and after googling for days, I gave it a try. I've been amazed! It's fabulous.

Most other moisturizers I've tried make my skin break out; no problem w/Total Effects. And I notice a huge difference if I run out! I just start looking "old" again! AnnetteW
Paula's Choice products are excellent. For value, Olay's Complete (all-day moisture lotion with SPF 15) can't be beat for about $6 for 4 oz. The silicones in here leave your face feeling silky smooth without feeling greasy. I love it. I've had to face that I can't really turn back the clock, only make the most of and steward what I still have. Annette
mom26
You know the ones that promise miraculous transformations?? Anyhow, perfect timing as these are some of the products I was wondering about... has anyone heard of Dr. Acai skincare? Just curious...I will look into the othe5r suggestions given. Thanks, ladies!! NicksMama-Zack's Mama Too
that you moisturize from the inside out. My mother is 63 and has beautiful skin. Here are her recommendations (and they are cheap): 1. Drink lots of water 2. Take fish oil (3 tabs a day) 3. Moisturize every day (she says it doesn't matter WHAT you use, just use it daily - she's used everything from oil of olay to Neutrogena) 4. No soap, just water (use oil-cleansing method to remove make up) 5. Sunscreen or foundation w/ sunscreen I have been doing the oil cleansing method for weeks and it makes my skin feel great. Mix 3 oz of extra virgin olive oil and 1 oz of castor oil in a bottle. Shake well before using. I use it every night to take off any make up and dirt. hth K 5. 6packofun
See, I guess I just don't really believe in a miracle product. I don't believe that creams can make wrinkles truly go away, only make them less apparent because they help the skin to be the healthiest possible--dry, sun-damaged skin just shows wrinkles more readily. Since I've been taking care of my skin--even before using Paula's Choice products, specifically--I feel like the wrinkles are less noticeable because my skin is hydrated! And I was afraid that my occasional acne would get *worse* with moisturizing, but nope! The alpha hydroxy gel that I use has really helped even out my skin tone and helps a little with the occasional blemish. Beta hydroxy gel helps clean out pores and make them look smaller, also helps with blemishes. Also, certain types of makeup can make wrinkles more pronounced, too. OnTheBrink
Right now, I'm using the Nicole Miller line of skin care, and it's sold by Melaleuca. It's the best I've ever used, better than MK, better than Clinique. However, if you don't want to commit to Melaleuca, MK does have an excellent moisturizer, as well as Dove. I've not tried the Olay products.
BikeBookBread
I absolutely love, love, love the entire Philosophy line (I don't have any stake in them). It's not cheap, but not the most expensive, either. (BTW, has anyone else noticed how drugstore skincare is creeping up and joining the price of "counter" stuff???) The skincare products range from very light to very rich. I am 40, and have had acne problems since college. For the first time every, my acne is GONE, and I used to rely on makeup to cover up the blemishes. Now my skin is so clear that I don't HAVE to use makeup unless I want to!!!! (Their makeup line is minimal but wonderful. Once you switch from liquid foundation to mineral/powder, you will never go back to gloppy liquid again.) www.philosophy.com
usetoschool
I second (third, fourth?) Paula's Choice. She has the same problem you do - acne and aging skin so has a lot of good information about that subject. Lot's of good articles and her site and recommendations for products other than her own, though I love her products and my whole family has been using them for years.
