Tree House Academy
And which one did they lose first? I just ask because my son is not even quite 5.5 years old yet and last night he lost his first tooth....and it was one of the TOP ones in the front. My older son was 7 before he ever lost a tooth and his was the bottom front ones first, then the tops. I just want to make sure we aren't totally weird. (Okay, it is a given that we are totally weird in most ways...I just wanna make sure our teeth aren't weird too.)
Mabeline
My ds is 6.5 and he only has one very slightly loose tooth on the bottom. I remember losing my bottom teeth at 6yo and then my top teeth soon after. I have heard that teeth usually come out like they came in. In late- out late and so on. If you have any concerns maybe take him to the dentist, but I don't think there is reason to worry. HTH
Holly in FL
Not weird...at least for our household! My 10yo son lost his first tooth when he was 4yo! However, he also got his teeth very early. His first two bottom teeth were fully in by the time he was 4 months old. Like I said...he's 10yo...and, he's lost 5 molars! ~Holly
~Jenn~
Not weird at all!:) Ds lost his first tooth at right around 5.5 and now at just turned 7 has lost 7 all together.:tongue_smilie:
Tree House Academy
Whoa! 5 molars! My 9.5 year old who started losing at age 7, still has 4 regular teeth PLUS his molars to lose!
joannqn
I think losing your first tooth anytime between 5 and 7 is considered normal. My DD, who got her first two teeth at 4 months old, lost her first tooth when she was 4. We didn't even know it was loose until I picked her up from Awana and found a big, gaping, hole in her mouth. She's 9 right now and just lost 4 teeth in about a month's time...premolars and molars. My DS, who got his first tooth around 6 months old, lost his first tooth when he was 6. He's 7 now and recently lost 4 teeth all at once, too, but they were front teeth. I'm expecting my toddler to begin losing his teeth early like my DD did. He got his first two teeth when he was 2 months old.
Guest janainaz
My ds9 was 4 (about 4.5). He lost the bottom first and had two new front teeth in by the time he had just turned 6. My boys were also early teethers, my ds9 had three teeth at three months old. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, or not. I'm not ready for my ds4 to lose his teeth yet! I hope he's later.
Tree House Academy
I'm not ready for my ds4 to lose his teeth yet! I hope he's later. I felt the same way about my ds 5 losing his! My dh and I almost cried. That is for BIG kids...and he is our BABY. :001_huh:

That is for BIG kids...and he is our BABY. :001_huh: Yeah, I can't handle it either. It does seem to grow them up too quickly (at least appearance-wise). I took my ds9 (just turned 9) to get new shoes and found that his feet are the same size as mine. I just looked at him and told him to knock-it-off with the growing thing. It's all heart-wrenching. Tree House Academy
I can wear my 9 year old's shoes, shirts, and socks. :( He is already 5'0" tall and he hasn't even hit puberty yet! His grandpa is 6'7", so there is little hope for him stayng shorter than me much longer. :(
AnnetteW
I think that your son is probably within normal for him. The only other thing that could cause him to lose teeth early would be an injury like getting "busted" in the mouth by a baseball or other hard object. LizzyBee
They began losing teeth at 4, 7, and 6. I think all of them lost top front teeth first, but I'm not positive of that.
Tree House Academy
We had also wondered about him being hit in the mouth, but the tooth was loose for several days and there was no obvious place where he had been hit or anything (no cuts on his lip or inside his lip), so I guess he is just a normal little young tooth loser. Ida
My oldest lost his first tooth on his seventh birthday. A few months later when my then 5 year old told me he had a loose tooth, I didn't believe him at first. That night when I was helping him brush his teeth, sure enough . . . So one lost his first tooth at 7, the next at 5, and honestly I don't even remember how old my third was when she lost her first tooth. Crissy
Both of my boys lost their baby teeth a bit early. My younger son, who just turned ten, had lost all of his baby teeth and molars by 9.5. I am so relieved that it's all over. I never did deal well with wiggly, falling out teeth.
mommyrooch
My daughter did not loose her first tooth until she was 7. It was a middle tooth on the bottom. My son lost his first one when he was 5. It was also a middle tooth on the bottom.
Mommy22alyns
Becca was not yet 5. I was floored - I wasn't expecting her to lose a tooth before she was even kindergarten age! She lost her two lower middle teeth within a few months of each other. Her two top middle teeth are loose now, but it might be another month or so before they come out. Desert Rat
Ds8 lost 2 teeth in one week when he had just turned 5 (top front). Ds6 lost his first tooth a couple months before he turned 6 and it was a bottom front.
Catherine
I think it's partly genetic-both dh and I lost teeth close to age 8. My eldest did not finish with losing all of his until he was almost 14.
