A question for Rod and Staff Bible (any of the grades 5-8) users

I am debating what to do here-dd is 3rd grade but very advanced, has had lots of Bible. I have R+S Bible 5 here to start now and she thinks it looks great, BUT we're doing Ancients (our 2nd cycle) in 5th grade, so a yr and a half away, and R+S 5 looks perfect to do at that time. I really want to dig into Bible history in Ancients and this looks like it will spell it out for me. Plus she recently read through Genesis and Exodus, and she is generally more familiar with the first part of the OT than any other part of the Bible so I'd like to delve out into those other areas.

So would it be bad to start now with R+S 7 and 8 (and do New Testament with that) first over the next yr and half, and then do 5 and 6? Or would it be better to do in order? Plus I wondered if 7 and 8 is harder-it doesn't look like it from the samples, but maybe there are less pictures, etc.? The 5 looks very engaging, with pictures, plant/culture studies, etc.; not sure from the samples if they keep that up throughout the grades. Also, would it be confusing for a child this age because it looks like in 7 they mix up and pull from all the different gospel accounts as they go chronologically through Jesus' life. Thanks for the help!

The R&S Bible courses start out slowly, but they get much more difficult. Bible 7 goes very much in-depth. An advanced third-grader might get *something* out of Bible 7 and 8, but truly, a middle-schooler would be able to appreciate the course much more and remember it better long-term. There's information in these courses that most adults don't know.

R&S Bible looks straightforward, but it will be more meaningful if the child is the age it's sold for or just a grade lower. Even though we read through and teach through the entire Bible each year as a family as a foundation to our church involvement, my oldest has found it challenging at times. There's some research involved with various Bible-related books that would be harder for a younger child IMHO. It's more a logic-stage resource.

When she was 8, she did a BSF-style adult study with me, and really enjoyed it, so I was thinking this would be okay. I guess maybe I should take a closer look at it though? We'd be doing it together, orally. GVA-how old is your oldest? (Siggys don't come up on my screen and I can't find it in your profile! Thanks!)
