Great Latin Adventure users...what have you liked/disliked?

I've been looking at GLA this afternoon and I was wondering what other users thought of it. I'm planning on using it for my dd8 who is 1/3 through LC1. I'm looking for a student text that talks to the student, which GLA has. I am wondering how long the first level grammar lessons are. The one in the sample is from lesson 17, which is in the 2nd book. It's about 3 pages of text. I'm thinking that 3 pages of a grammar instruction text would make my dds eyes glaze over and I'm hoping that it's a little shorter for beginners.

All in all I really like the look of GLA. I like the interesting sentences, the translation, the derivatives that are used in a sentence, and skipping bits of the not so wonderful roman history. The only concern I have is the length of the grammar instruction.

TIA

What I did for the grammar instruction is to break it into two days. We would read it through together and after finishing a section, we'd then refer to the "study sheets"--where the student is to fills in the blanks, which are all keyed to the grammar lesson. There were many "ah ha" moments for my ds when we did it that way. After spending a couple of sessions going over the grammar lesson and writing out new vocabulary cards, ds was then ready to jump into the one of the worksheets which gives lots of practice implementing the things learned in the grammar lesson. You'll be amazed at how thorough and easy to follow the grammar lessons are! Any other questions? I've gone through this program three times (in pre-publication version) and feel like I know it very well!
