Beth in SW WA
We did RS exclusively for the last 6 months (day after day after day....). Now we are mixing it up with this hodge-podge of resources: Ds 13, dd 11 are doing this together: Easy Spanish Reader (it's amazing what they can understand) 1.5 hour enrichment class at local district w/ other kids -- fun, fun, fun (dd only) Verbos vocab cards Tutor on Monday nights for an hour Rosetta Stone 3x week Spanish sentence writing 3x week Practice Makes Perfect workbooks lots of videos from the library (picking up Muzzy today actually) Quia games/flashcards For myself, I bought Madrigals Magic Key To Spanish. Here's to hoping my grand experiment works...
Catwoman
It looks great to me -- but we just started using Rosetta Stone two days ago, so I'm not exactly a professional at this! I can already see that RS could get a bit boring after a while, so I really like your idea of integrating other Spanish materials into the mix. Maybe your kids could also watch some tv shows in Spanish. Cat
Beth in SW WA
Cat, We have Comcast cable. They mainly have Spanish soap operas. :( This morning the kids are all watching Muzzy Spanish. It's a hoot. I wouldn't pay $400 for it -- but I'm glad our library has it. RS was great to get us started, but I am loving the grammar the kids are learning now. I recommend the Practice Makes Perfect Verb Tenses workbook. This morning my older dc were reveling in the fact that Spanish is so much easier than Latin. Lots of smiles and laughter at the table as they write their sentences. Happy mommy here...:)
