eight_gregorys
Hi, I've got a question. My daughter will be in 6th grade next year and will be doing the Medieval era with SOTW 2 and biblioplan. My question goes for my little guys. I have one that will be in 2nd grade, twins that will be in 1st grade, and a kindergartener. Do you think SOTW 2 would be over their heads? Should I consider CHOW? I have both. Or should I start with ancients? I'm just curious if any of you have done this with these age ranges and what you would recommend. Thanks so much, Andrea

Ali in OR
We did Biblioplan year 2 with SOTW 2 last year with a second grader and pre-K. Definitely not over their heads. We love history here. My youngest has been tagging along since we started with ancients--big sis was in 1st and she was 3. They do the coloring pages from the AG while I read SOTW. We read the K-2 books from Biblioplan and some of the 3+ books as read alouds. Also did most of the family read alouds. And many of the picture books that were suggested in the AG that were in our library. My youngest only does the coloring pages and listens to whatever I read. Older dd does mapwork, an occasional narration, some reading on her own, etc. I'll expect youngest to start that next year as a first grader. And to keep your life easier, I would definitely just do the same period of history that your oldest is doing. They'll get around to Ancients eventually, and I don't think it will be a problem to just start with year 2. That's the beauty of Biblioplan anyway--there are books for everyone's level so that the whole family can be learning and enjoying the same thing. eight_gregorys
Ali, Thanks for the input. I think I just a little reassurance that SOTW 2 would be okay for my little guys. My 11yo dd did Biblioplan Ancients this year and the boys did GTG. I know that two programs can done, but I don't think it SHOULD be done, especially when I'm still teaching phonics to four busy boys. Ali in OR
SOTW was written with 1st-4th graders in mind, though it is used with older kids too. But yours are definitely in the target age range.
