Kate in VA
I was wondering if most or any of the WP books are listed in the truthquest guides for American History? I really like Wp books but we don't need all of it... but I love the flow of the truthquest guides and wondering if most of the same books are included or if I would need to write them in the proper places to make sure I include them. Thank you, Kate

PeterPan
I guess I was kind of confused by your question. Do you have the guides yet? WP yet? WP AC uses Time Travelers as a spine, and it would be quite simple to use TQ alongside that. I have the TQ guides from our first time through american and use them for book lists, since I don't particularly care for the commentary. The books it cites tend to be older, either classics or oop. What I do, to make a lit approach to history work for me, is I take all my books at the beginning and get them in relative order. Then, since I use the VP cards to organize things, I put post-it notes on them for what VP card they correspond to. That way they go on the shelf in order. Then I just work through the stack, handing them to her to read. You could do something similar quite easily, integrating your books from various sources. With WP, I've just been pulling my VP-organized pile of books when we come to the next topic.

Thank you, Kate Kate, I used TQ to supplement AS 1 for my oldest who devours books. Yes many of the WP books are in TQ, but not all of them. Kate in VA
Good... thank you both! No i do not have either the WP or TQ.... I am trying to see what is really needed to purchase.... I love the look of WP (with their book choices) but my dd would not be into all those activities and I would not use the guide. I also want to take advantage of our library and not purchase all the books. So I like the flexability with TQ but was wondering if some of the wonderful books are listed that are part of WP Am story. Thanks again! PeterPan
Do you realize TQ is inherently de-structured? Just as a suggestion, you might look into VP. (Veritas Press) It would be a framework to plug your books into from the library. Unless you really want the commentary of TQ, you might find VP easier to use (do a card a week, find books on the topics, where the cards create their own schedule and pacing but leave you free to do what you want day to day). You can even use the VP cards to schedule TQ. I have the charts for that in the group files of the yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vp_elementary If it's not in there, just email me and I'll send it to you.
