Lightning Lit question

My son is going into 8th grade. If he has done some basic lit. in 7th (not a ton - but some basic terms, etc.) would he start with the 7th grade program or go right into the 8th grade? Thanks.

Lightning Lit 7 and 8 (full year program, written to the student)

Uses whole works; covers a variety of poetry, short stories, biography, and different genres (fiction, humor, realistic, adventure). Only potential downside for you is that the teaching instruction focuses only on one literary element per unit; LL7 has 8 units; LL8 has 12 units. Good amount/variety of types of worksheets go with each unit to practice literary element learned and lead into very basic literary analysis. Teacher guide has a few deeper discussion questions, a little bit more background info, schedule, answers to the worksheets, and a few additional resources.

I would think so...you can ask in the yahoo forum for hewitt homeschooling. I think you would, just my opinon, as I think they said they teach concepts in the 7th grade LL that you build on in the 8th grade LL.

I have used both levels, and I think he could go into the 8th grade level. I would make sure he understands a plot diagram, but other than that I think he would be fine.
