happygrrl
I just realized that I should do some state history; I can't believe I forgot this! I am thinking about doing it during the summer so it won't mess with our usual schedule. I figure we could do field trips to the capitol as well as to various regions. Has anyone found any other can't miss resources? Thanks!! siloam
You know I don't have plans to ever specifically do Oregon history. We just cover it when it comes up in history and maybe spend a tad longer on it. I am sure when the kids are in High School we will spend some time focusing on government, but that is about it. AnnetteB
We visited the Oregon Trail Museum in Baker City once. We have traveled the backroads around Fossil visiting the old family ranch (following a detailed letter of instructions written by my dh's late aunt.) Champoeg State Park has a little display and a pioneer school that we have attended. When we are on the road we stop at forts, lighthouses, and covered bridges. I enjoyed visiting all the California missions when we were growing up. They made for lasting memories.
happygrrl
Y'all are making so much sense. We do a lot of travel throughout the state, and enjoy doing museum type activities. If I do that, as well as include some more OR specific books when we do western expansion in history (2010 sometime) that might cover it just fine. Whew! Thanks for getting me through my panic moment for the week!
happygrrl
Are you located near the pic in your Avatar? We are in the Salem area. We live a few hours south of you right off of I-5. We are currently on an extended trip to TX and I am *very* homesick, hence the avatar!
