JennifersLost
One with all the little details we don't have time for anymore? Probably fifties-era or something like that? Anyone have any ideas?
ladydusk
It isn't "old" per se, but Home Comforts has everything anyone'd ever want to do and more, I'd imagine.
Chris in VA
OH, I love this book. I like it more than the Martha Stewart one or the Good Housekeeping one.
Stacie
I agree with the others about Home Comforts. It's nice to read and nice to have for reference.

hillfarm
This might be what you are seeking. http://www.amazon.com/Have-More-Plan-Ed-Robinson/dp/0882660241 It details a couple's plans for moving from an urban lifestyle to a rural one back in the late 40's, early 50's. Definitely be advised that prices and techniques have changed since then! However, the basic concepts are still pretty interesting.
ladydusk
I like the Martha one, too. I have the BH&G one and it doesn't do much for me. For really old, there's always Mrs. Beeton's, but it doesn't hit the 20th Century, even. My house doesn't reflect my enjoyment of homemaking books :P
