The grocery store clerk's words to me today

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to share this with someone who would understand! I've been having a hard week, and this just lifted my spirits tremendously.

I had my little one with me at the store this morning while the older ones took an outside class. My dd started talking to the clerk while we were checking out. First, the lady just laughed about what a good speaker she was. Then, she asked if she was in school yet. When I said preschool, she looked at her a minute and then said, "You teach her yourself." I said I did. She told me that was good, because the schools were terrible. She asked dd if she had brothers and sisters, and dd told her all about them. The lady wondered where they went to school, so I told her we homeschooled. She went on and on about what a great choice that was, how the schools were terrible, what a blessing it was to be able to homeschool them, and "more power to you." Then, she told dd what a pleasure it had been to meet her, asked her name, shook her hand, and told her "God bless you." It was certainly a nice way to start out our day!!!

I love it when that happens!:001_smile: I get that a lot more than I do the hairy eye-ball.

Oh man I love those days! And even more so when I'm having a 'bad day'. God is so awesome in arranging one of those such comments on those bad days that I really could use a good word :)

(sorry that sentence sounded sloppy...I blame the rowdy children around me :p )

Doesn't it always come at just the right time too?

On Tuesdays we have a late morning storytime at our library so the boys and I usually treat ourselves to lunch somewhere afterwards.

This past Tuesday we went to the local pizza place. This older lady sat next to us and just could not take her eyes off us! lol I'm used to that somewhat since most people are amazed that we have four boys and NO girls. Anyway as she was leaving, she stopped by and told me how wonderfully behaved my boys were and how impressed she was with how I spoke to them. Then she said "you just don't see many children so well behaved these days. Good job, Mom!"

I don't know why, but I almost cried as I thanked her. lol
