KidsHappen
I don't want to make my own but I would prefer a dog food with as little grain as possible.

newbie
I don't want to make my own but I would prefer a dog food with as little grain as possible. merrickpetcare.com, has a Before Grains product that has no grain. They have wet and dry for dogs and dry for cats. We use dry for cats, and their health has improved one hundred percent. We are on the member plan, so we get free ship when we order 25 dollars worth. Never a problem.

KidsHappen
Has anyone tried Avoderm or Nature's Recipe?
Ria
My favorite is Natural Balance. Petco carries it, but not Petsmart. Ria
hornblower
the two I recommend are: Orijen http://www.orijen.ca/orijen/about/ and Nature's Variety Instinct http://www.naturesvariety.com/instinct

Rose in BC
We also used a brand called Go Natural and liked it okay too but the dogs really (and I mean really) love Orijen.
Cindyg
Taste of the Wild. No grains. Carb is from potatoes.
Ellie
Innova and Evo. I don't ever use anything else. Innova has some grain; Evo has none.
Aggie
This isn't a home-made dog food, but a raw diet for dogs. I don't know if you'd be willing to go this route, but try http://www.skansen.com/nutrition/diet.htm for a good starting place.
