SherryTX
Well, I guess I am naive. I googled "free puzzler maker" to see if I could find a free resource for making crossword puzzles and word finds for my daughter. I thought this would be a fun way to reinforce vocabulary she is learning. However, most of what comes up is not really free - and they don't tell you UNTIL after you have already put in your words!!! ARGH!! I found a few of these a couple of years ago, but I guess no one is offering them for free anymore. That's fine, I have no problem paying for it, but now I am trying to find one that is at least inexpensive. Any suggestions? If possible I would like to pay under $15. For a really good one that offers a lot of different puzzler makers, I would consider paying more. Thanks for your help!
PollyOR
I came across this today: http://puzzlemaker.discoveryeducation.com/?campaign=PM It looks like the online version may be free. Kind of confusing, because there is an ad beside of it for a CD.

Annabel Lee
Free word find = graph paper, dictionary, and 15-20 min. I know it's not online, but this was a favorite pastime of mine in gradeschool - making word finds for friends.

Psm73
Thanks for posting all those links! A friend of mine has been doing this with keywords from Story of the World. I thought that was a GREAT idea for reinforcing key names, cities, new vocabulary from the chapter, etc.
Janie
Hi Sherry, I just found this thread and don't know whether you've found a CW generator yet or not. Someone here directed me to Eclipse crossword. I downloaded it (FREE!) so that I can use it anytime with being connected to the Internet. I'm made crossword puzzles for every single chapter of SOTW 2, 3, and 4 that we did this year. ECW gives you choices of size and font. The only thing I don't like is the box you type into--it is small and hard for my old eyes to see what I type. Therefore I make typos that I don't see until the cw is printed. My students edit them for me, then I go back and correct the original. Unfortunately, there is no spell check at Eclipse. Other than that, I love it. It would be worth your while to check it out. [ Sherry, are you Semicolon? :) ]
