I need song suggestions

Recommended Posts

I'm making two-minute slideshows for eight chiefs and need song suggestions to go with each person's pictures. So far I have Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Simple Man," Toby Keith's "How Do You Like Me Now?" and Bob Seger's "Like A Rock." One possibility is Alan Jackson's "Small Town Southern Man." These songs were chosen by the individuals, but some have asked me to choose. One guy asked for a contemporary rock/patriotic song.

These are the ones I'm mulling over, but I was hoping to get some more ideas! This is for a military function -- a promotion ceremony, and each slideshow will be 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 minutes long. Their pictures are mostly of him in uniform, either at work or in travels, him with his family, and his formal military pictures.

Thanks!!!

Our Country - John Mellencamp

last two stanzas:

The dream is still alive

someday it will come true

and this country

it belongs to folks like me and you

so let the voice of freedom

sing out through this land

this is our country

From the east coast to the west coast

down the dixie highway back home

this is our country

From the east coast to the west coast

down the dixie highway back home

this is our country

Citizen Soldier - 3 Doors Down

Top of the World - Van Halen

First 1:10

Hey, baby, whew!

I know that you believe in me,

That's all I ever need, uh huh.

No, no, nothing's gonna stop me,

Nothing will be scaring me, oh no

Hey baby, it's the only way out

Oh, little darling

Cmon what's it all about?

Standing on top of the world

For a little while.

Gonna give it all we got.

America - Neil Diamond

possible instrumental version?

Ramblin' Man - Allman Brothers

Dreams - Van Halen

My Way - Elvis Presley or Frank Sinatra, etc.

Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) - Green Day

Danger Zone - Kenny Loggins

Life's Been Good - Joe Walsh

Small Town - John Mellencamp

One Moment in Time - Whitney Houston

It's My Life - Bon Jovi

Does anyone want to have "It's all right to be little bitty" --or maybe "size matters" ? ;)'

I guess the other 'guy' song i think about is There's somethin' women like about a pick-up man :D... so if any of them have a favorite truck, that would be great.

lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an american"?

which branch? There's always the Ballad of the Green Berets...

Some Gave All

Aaron Tippin // You’ve Got to Stand for Something

There's a really great patriotic song by a newer country singer named Eric Dodge. It's called "I Pledge" and it is a very stirring song. I believe he gave it away to folks in the military when it first came out. Not sure. It's late and I can't remember.

If you just type in Eric Dodge, you can find lots on him and the song.

Good luck.

Ohmygawsh, I am soooo sick of Greenwood's Proud to Be an American. Beautiful song, but it is played at nearly every military function I go to and I'm beginning to detest it.

How'd you know that practically every male member on this base drives a truck? lol

I should've included She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy as one of the choices.

And Trace Adkins' I Got My Game On.
