Lisa in the UP of MI
What is your favorite Mother Goose rhymes book? I'd like to get one for my dc. Thanks!
Beth in Central TX
My favorite is The Real Mother Goose by Checkerboard Press. It's the copy I had as a child.
Aletheia Academy
Here's a link to the one we have. It's a winner! http://www.amazon.com/Original-Mother-Blanche-Fisher-Wright/dp/1561381136/ref=pd_bbs_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1203563441&sr=8-
BusyBee
The Real Mother Goose by Blanche Fish Wright. We have had four or five differnt Mother Goose books and this is the one we like best. You can find it on Amazon.
cajun.classical
My favorite is The Real Mother Goose by Checkerboard Press. It's the copy I had as a child. We've got this one too. It was given to me when I was pregnant with my first born. The inscription, written by a child, was, "Have a happy baby."
BizyPenguin
We're borrowing it from the library right now, but we love it so much that I plan to purchase it. It's featured on my blog right now in the 'Book Nook'.
profmom
I asked this same question a little before the board change. Mary Engelbreit's and Sylvia Long's were both highly recommended. We checked these out from the library and also requested The Real Mother Goose (which we still haven't received). My dd absolutely loves Mary Engelbreit's, and I've now ordered it from Amazon! nmoira
We love Rosemary Wells/Iona Opie's two books (available in one, $10 volume from B&N), Arnold Lobel's collection, and Chas Addams Mother Goose.
dangermom
I have several, but my favorite is the Rosemary Wells volumes, followed by The Real Mother Goose, which I grew up with, so I'm blinded to the defects of its pseudo-Greenaway illustrations. :D There are lots of great ones, though; look through the library's collection and enjoy! I'm the one who recommended the Mary Englebreit Mother Goose to you on the old boards! I'm so glad your dd likes it! We still have the library one here at home, but it's due in two weeks and I plan to order a copy before then. Isn't it adorable!
JumpedIntoTheDeepEndFirst
There is also the "Annotated Mother Goose" which is fun for the history and meaning of the various rhymes. Perhaps not as fun for younger kids to read due to a lack of fun and colorful pictures.
Closeacademy
The one by Rosemary Wells is really nice if you want your child to read it on their own. The print is a nice clear size. We checked it out from the library.
