RebeccaS
I'll preface this with saying, this is the first dog we've owned since I've been grown so I'm not sure about the shedding of hair. We have a mutt, very hairy. Looks to be mostly Golden Retriever. She appears to be shedding the large clumps of hair that I associate with a spring shedding. Is it normal for this to start so early? It's only early Feb in Ohio. FWIW, she's an indoor dog. I noticed it starting a few days ago, but I got more concerned when she threw up twice today.
Stacy in NJ
I'm sorry to tell you this, but dogs shed year round, especially indoor dogs in coldish climates. Get a good brush and use it outside every day or every other day. It'll cut down on the dog hair indoors. I would bet the shedding is unrelated to the vomiting. RebeccaS
Thanks! I do know that dogs shed year round-we've had her since last August. I just wasn't expecting her to blow out her coat this early in the year.:001_smile:

RebeccaS
Thanks! I'm pretty sure I'm being paranoid about it. I did end up calling the vet because Jessie vomited again. In addition to that she's got this wheezing cough and I'm a little bit worried. The shedding in early Feb just sent me over the edge! :D
Chris in VA
Just wanted to recommend The Furminator as a great brush to help control shedding. Just don't overbrush with it.
CactusPair
Another suggestion for the Furminator! My indoor dog is hypoallergenic (at least for me) but stil sheds haystacks of hair, especially lately. He is a poodle retriever mix. So yes, shedding at any time of year is normal. My sister is a groomer and used the Furminator on my dog yesterday. Wow! Amazing. I just might buy one myself.
flyingmommy
We use the Furminator also for our two Corgis. It is fantastic! When we use it regularly, it really, really cuts down on the hair around the house. Jeannie
