Karla in Oregon
My coop is trying to decide which Spanish curriculum to use. I so want to use this curriculum, but our instructor will be teaching the children with a Latin American accent. The audio cd has a Castilian (sp?) accent. Do you think it is possible to overcome this minor flaw? Thanks for any help! Karla
klmama
What does the instructor want to use? I think you should let her make the decision about if it matters or not.
Tutor
My first Spanish teacher was from Mexico, my next was from the Dominican Republic, and my last was from Spain. Each could tell where my former teacher(s) was from, and now I have a eclectic accent when I speak what little Spanish I remember. :D I don't think that the accent matters much; only colloquialisms will really be affected and those aren't really taught, just picked up casually. I agree. When I was learning English most of my teachers were British but I also had a couple of American ones. It really is not as important as the teacher's ability to teach and to inspire the students.
