IEW The Elegant Essay - scheduling - still thinking about writing for next year

Recommended Posts

Can someone please tell me how this is scheduled? The TOC shows that there are lesson plans in the back, but that is not part of the sample which is available for viewing. So, I am wondering if it is a "schedule" or something else. If you have used this product how did you schedule it?

I am still trying to decide if I want to stick with IEW or do "sumpin' dif'rent" next year.

Is the Elegant Essay intended to be used as a one-year program?

TIA!

It is scheduled to be completed in 10 weeks. There are 10 units, most taking one week to complete. We are almost finished and have been very pleased with it. We will spend the rest of the year working on other IEW lessons from the Theme based books and SICC.

Hope this helps!

Here's what I did last year with my 10th and 12th grader for writing. The Elegant Essay was done weeks 8-26. They had finished IEW's Continuation Course C the year before. They also did literature WTM-style, for year 4 of the high school cycle.

My 12th grader of last year has gone on to college. He also studied for and took the CLEP English Composition with Essay to get his Freshman English credit. My now 11th grader is now studying for the AP English Language & Composition test this May.
