Jackie in NE
Several of you have been so gracious with your prayers and thoughts for my dm. So, I wanted to post here to let you know that I just returned from the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix yesterday, and that our visit there was SO encouraging! To make a long story shorter.....the doctor there could not see any cancer in my Mom's mouth. He checked and re-checked. He said there was obviously a mass on her MRI from last year, and that the 3 pathology reports from last year also clearly indicated cancer..... but he could not find any. He said he was "vexed" and "perplexed", and that she did not present at all as he thought she would when he reviewed her records (before he saw her). He said that normally a person with her MRI and pathology reports from a year ago would be in "pretty bad shape". We told him my dm has been getting an alternative treatment which includes low-dose chemo and heavy immuno-therapy, and he completely discounted the idea that those therapies might be helping. He said, in not quite so many words, that dm was wasting money on immuno-therapy, and that the only treatment proven to have any effect was surgery which would replace her jaw bone with a graft from her leg bone. But in the same breath, he said again that he could not explain why the cancer is gone. Needless to say.... we will be continuing with the immuno-therapy!!:001_smile: Also, needless to say, we are ecstatic, and are praising God for His mercy and provision. Thanks again to all of you who prayed or sent encouraging words my way.:party::party:
