Hoggirl
Okay, I WANT to try something different from IEW next year. I like IEW, but I want a change of pace. We tried Writing Apprentice in grade 4, and my ds hated it. Thought it was too "babyish." We started IEW the last nine weeks of grade 4. My ds did SWI-B over grades 4 and half of 5. We then moved into SICC-B which we will complete this year. He will be in grade 7 next year. He is working one grade ahead in R&S English (meaning he is doing their grade 7 text this year in grade 6). We will carry on with R&S English next year. He is currently in Latin in the Christian Trivium volume II which we will also carry on with next year. He is kind of a natural at grammar. He doesn't like it, but he is good at it. So, that is our history, and I just want to try a different writing program to mix things up a bit. I haven't looked at a lot yet. Would Jump In be too "easy" for him at this point? I have also looked at Put That in Writing. I probably would prefer something in between these two, but I am not sure??? Help (please). Karen in CO
Write with the Best is on the list of things I wish I had tried with my ds. Have you looked at it? Another option that might be great for you after doing such structured writing with IEW is to try Bravewriter.
Kimber
You might try Classical Writing Diogenes. It would begin rhetoric for him, something that I don't think IEW addresses.
Sunshine State Sue
We are using Write Shop. You can read my review here. We are using Write Shop for 6th-7th-8th grade, but it can be completed in 1 or 2 years as well. Also, if you email me, I will forward you a review from a lady who used both IEW and Write Shop. You might find it interesting.
Ellie
But there's plenty of writing in R&S's English series.
Hoggirl
We used to do the writing in R&S, and I had thought of returning to that as an option as well. We only do the grammar lessons in R&S right now. I appreciate these suggestions and will research them all. Thank you.
